iaido - A Japanese sword art dedicated to drawing and wielding a Japanese sword from a sitting position.

taijutsu - Japanese unarmed grappling art.

kenjutsu - A Japanese sword art dedicated to drawing and wielding a Japanese sword from a standing position.

hakama - Large, pleated pants worn during practice.

obi - Japanese word for belt. In this case, a particular type of obi is worn that will support the weight of your sword which is inserted into the obi.

daito - A Japanese sword. Also known as a katana. A cheap, aluminum blade is recommended for initial purchase and practice. Aluminum blades are not sharpened as they will not hold a cutting edge.

"live" blade - A sharpened daito.

bokuto - A wooden sword that is used for practice drills.
